ONLY USE HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR HYDRAULICS!!!! Do not use motor oil in your hydraulics. Motor oil is for MOTORS, you wouldn't put hydraulic fluid in your engine would you ?? Change your pump oil every season.

Above: Some pumps come with filters to prevent junk from getting into the system. We like to take them off because they slow the flow of hydraulic fluid.

Above: This is clean hydraulic oil.

Above: After a season of use the oil will start to change color. Note the contamination of O-ring bits and metal shavings.
